Message in a Bottle

This Little Bottle Could Save Your Life

How can a plastic bottle save your life? Contained in each bottle that we give away are two copies of a form and two labels, on the form you record your personal details, including emergency contact names and numbers, doctors name and conditions that you suffer from and where your medication is kept.  Once completed the form is placed in the bottle and the bottle is then placed in the fridge, one of the labels is placed on the outside of the fridge door and the other one on the inside of the front door where it can not be seen from the outside.

So how does it work?  All of the emergency services are aware of the scheme and if they have to attend to you and you are not capable to tell them about your medical history then they will look for the ‘Message in a Bottle’ labels to see if you are a member of the scheme.  Once they read your form then can then provide the correct emergency treatment for your condition.  By giving the correct emergency treatment at an early stage could save your life.

Why put it in the Fridge? Simply because most households have one and because this is a national scheme supported by many organisations the fridge was decided upon as a standard location.

So far Llantwit Major and Cowbridge Lions Club along with the Rotary Clubs of Llantwit Major and Cowbridge have distributed over 2000 bottles in the locality.

This scheme is open to anyone of any age who may have a condition that has to be taken into account when treatment is given, so if either yourself, a friend, relative or neighbour could benefit from having one of these bottles then please contact us and we will ensure that you receive a bottle free of charge.

If you already have a bottle and would like a new form then you can download a form from here.
