Llantwit Major and Cowbridge Lions Club is involved in a number of on-going projects which include both local and international projects.
Locally we run the ‘Message in a Bottle’ scheme in conjunction with Llantwit Major and Cowbridge Rotary Clubs; here this joint project distributes plastic bottles to individuals so that they can record their personal details in case the emergency services need access to these. We also run free diabetes screening sessions twice a year in Llantwit Major and Cowbridge where individuals can come along and have a diabetes test carried out by fully qualified staff. For more information please follow this link.
In association with Age Concern we provide help and funds to elderly people in the areas in and around Llantwit Major and Cowbridge.
In association with the Monday Club we provide transport for some of its members to attend the meetings in Cowbridge.
We also respond to the long term projects set up by Lions Clubs International headquarters which amongst other things is organising ‘Campaign SightFirst II’. This campaign has so far raised over $105 million for equipment, premises and staff to help prevent many common eye conditions that can lead to loss of sight.
